The Challenge
Before investing in web-to-print, TAG was reliant on manual processes across the workflow, which hampered the company’s ability to scale. Marc Forest, TAG’s Digital Services Manager, said one of the biggest bottlenecks was manually checking file quality.
He said: “Before we started using Infigo, everything about our print process was super manual. Clients would send print PDFs through email, and we’d have to preflight and fix every file ourselves, which was always a mess.”
He continued: “We never knew how clean or broken the files would be, and we couldn’t control how they were sent to us. That uncertainty killed our efficiency and ate into all the profit.”
Dedicated Portals + Platform Integration = Supercharged Efficiency
After investing in the Infigo platform, one of the first steps from TAG was to create dedicated portals for its biggest corporate clients.
Marc said: “Each customer got their own setup with access controls by department, so we could load in all their products and manage who sees what. Now we’ve got full control over brand consistency across every storefront.
“Plus, every order comes in as a print-ready file, which makes color management and repeatability way easier. Customers love that they can jump online anytime and get what they need.”
By integrating the Infigo platforms with TAG’s other print systems, through our intutitive APIs, Marc has been able to automate significant parts of the workflow. He said: “Now, when a customer places an order, all the assets and print specs drop straight into our MIS, ready for job ticketing. No extra steps.”
Immediate Impact and Maximised Throughput
Marc said that TAG saw immediate results from investing in Infigo, allowing them to take on more jobs without creating bottlenecks. This had a significant impact on the bottom line. He said: “It’s kind of funny watching these jobs fly through the print shop without anyone touching them.
“The first time a human even lays a hand on it is when the pressman pulls sheets off the back of the press. That profit loss we used to get from the manual steps. Gone. Totally out of the picture now.”
Satisfied Customers and a Seamless Workflow
As well as massively improving the efficiency of the internal workflow, customers were also enjoying a superior user experience, Marc said.
“They just log into their site, build their shopping cart, and place the order. From there, we use API and JDF to preflight, impose, and send the file straight to our press, cuts out a ton of steps.
“Every file in our print portal is fully vetted, so we’re not dealing with errors or reprints. The whole process is so efficient now, we can actually price our projects in a way that makes sense.”
